The term "urban development" might make the average Estes Park local cringe, but what if that development enhanced and integrated your family`s lifestyle. This is the task of many green developers in the urban sector, connecting neighborhoods with services, utilizing public transportation while burning little or no fossil fuel energy for day-to-day living.
Architect Michael Tavel, son of David and Marcia Tavel of Estes Park, has embarked on an ambitious project, called the Geos Net Zero Energy Neighborhood planned for Arvada, Colo. He won the national Honor Award for Analysis and Planning from the American Society of Landscape Architects in Washington, D.C. for the project, which will rely 100 percent on renewable energy.
